Known for its consistent grain and versatility Ash can be used for a broad range of interior joinery projects. Ash can be used effectively for furniture making as it comes in an extensive range of thicknesses. Due to its availability in wide boards Ash works very well for stair cases specifically stair treads and stair risers. It is a pale, neutral timber great for painting and staining. Ash will work well as a more modest priced substitute for Oak. American Ash is a strong wood with notable shock resistance. It is good for steam bending, and is predominantly used for interior furnishings, joinery, and sporting goods.

Ash would need to be treated extensively for use outdoors as it is not externally rated in a damp climate.

Varying from a mellow white to a lighter shade of brown, this is a graceful timber which remains consistently popular.
